Luckily, this autumn (my first fall since graduating college!) has been pretty rad. I've helped start a local alumnae chapter for my sorority, I went to New York City for bridal week, my parents and family friends came to visit for a weekend, my childhood bestie followed up that visit with one of her own for Halloween, I went to an MU game with my boyfriend's family, I dragged my boyfriend to a (seriously disappointing) Renaissance Fair, and I've settled comfortably into post-grad life.
My parents, family friends Susan and Paul, and boyfriend and I at the Mizzou game!
Post-game drinks at Quinton's
The only photo taken from the night my parents tore up the dance floor after a comedy show. I desperately wish I had the foresight to get some video of that!
Shyrock's corn maze! City girls getting our country on.
A beautiful day at the winery!
I've knocked off almost everything on my autumn to-do list, including carving pumpkins (an annual must), going to the local corn maze, indulging in everything pumpkin (pie, beer, pretzels, lattes), dining outside at the nearby winery, antiquing, tailgating and football games (with hotdogs and beer, naturally). I can't believe it's already November! Before I know it, Thanksgiving will be here, and then the official start of the holiday season.
Though I think much of the over-commericialization of Christmas is gag-worthy, I love all of the holiday traditions that I cherish from my childhood: Decorating the tree, putting up lights outside, spending Christmas morning with my sister and parents as we've done for the past 22 years. What are you most looking forward to as winter approaches?
